Qaw el-Kebir Expedition 2024, Archaeological Projects

The Qaw el-Kabir Expedition (Universidad de Alcalá-UAH), directed by Dr Jose Manuel Alba Gómez, started working at the Middle Kingdom necropolis of Qaw el-Kebir for the first time after scholars such as Schiaparelli, Steckeweh and Petrie worked there a century ago.

The goal of this first mission was a thorough survey, documentation and assessment of the state of preservation of all the area and the monumental tombs of the Middle Kingdom governors Wahka I, Ibu, Sobekhotep and Wahka II, and the ones whose owners are still unknown.
